Kendis Gibson would be nearly 10 years old before he even knew what a television was. Born in Belize Central America, at the time, only a few homes had televisions sets, and there were only two fairly poor broadcast signals to catch. But what started as a novice fascination in the tween years, has now turned into a successful television career.
Besides receiving several awards, and interviewing many famous stars and politicians, Kendis has also traveled extensively all over the world as a television personality. His current career journey lands him as host of one of HGTV's most popular shows, "I Want That!" Every week, Kendis and his co host, highlight the latest and greatest gadgets and technological advances that no one should do without.
Prior to HGTV, Kendis spent 3 years as an entertainment anchor for CNN Headline news, and CNN International. He did everything from golfing with Arnold Palmer in Costa Rica to partying in Cannes at the film festival with the likes of Sharon Stone, to surfing in Hawaii with Adrien Brody, while at the Maui film festival.
His career however got its start, in television news. As a young reporter in Rochester New York, Kendis quickly moved up, becoming a successful, award winning anchor at the NBC affiliate. The accolades continued when he moved to Philadelphia as a reporter and fill in anchor. He was awarded with an individual Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Television reporting and nomination for Best Sports Feature.
He then returned to New York as a reporter for NBC Newschannel. As the main correspondent for the network's feed service, Kendis covered everything from the devastation of 9/11 that took place just blocks from his home, to the crash of an Air France Concorde jet outside Paris.
Kendis now lives in Chicago and when he's not working, enjoys traveling, skiing, rock climbing and generally, the outdoors. In his spare time he spends time volunteering with Chicago area organizations helping the homeless and those living with HIV/Aids.
